Went to visit NWS today...Leah and I did pick the perfect day to visit, you know. I guess we're just special. As we walk down Summit past the lunch room, there's a sign on the door saying lunch is being served at school--so naturally we wonder what's going on. And as we get closer, there's police cars and trucks and an armored truck in the parking lot near school, and I'm thinking, what the hell? Gary was walking up the street and told us--there was some man who'd holed himself up in the apartment complex across from school (where the store is) and they'd called in the SWAT team and everything--used tear gas and pepper spray and so forth. Crazy crazy day.
I did get to see many people though, and students and teachers and everything, and really the only weird thing about it was not having everyone else from our class there. It didn't feel too odd--or like I didn't belong. I mean, I felt like I wasn't a student there--but I still felt welcome. I like that.
Oh, and the new bathrooms in Carson? They're...they're...new. Which is odd. But they're very nice anyhow, and not entirely antithetical to NW's spirit. Heh.

And I have an exam tomorrow on the Iliad and the Odyssey. So why the hell am I not reading the Odyssey? Or working on the study questions? Because I'm a bloody little procrastinator who gets easily distracted, that's why. Hoooom. Find my inner Remus. Hoom....

Also I am very pleased to be a Shoebox virius. So THERE.

As much as the exam is breathing down my neck, I must admit the words are fabulous:

"Then back she went to face the crowded hall,
tremendous bow in hand, and on her shoulder hung
the quiver spiked with coughing death."
I mean, come on...spiked with coughing death? Awesome.

And this:
"Backward and down he went, letting the winecup fall
from his shocked hand. Like pipes his nostrils jetted
crimson runnels, a river of mortal red,
and one last kick upset his table
knocking the bread and meat to soak in dusty blood."

Oooooooh.

That is all.
