Scurvy Dogs! Scalawags!
Sep. 19th, 2005 02:38 pmArr! It be National Talk Like A Pirate Day, so it be! Yarr, mateys.
...so, I guess that means I just talk normal? If I'm a pirate? Go me. I wish I had Pirates of the Carribbean to watch. Or, you know, Lu'cello to sail. That would work too.
So. More or less all moved in; still some boxes around. Still some mess on the counter, still some shelves lacking books. I got to hang with Erin and Elaine today, which was wonderful, and saw many other people and am not so flipped out about going back to school as I was the other day. Even so, I've pretty much decided to mostly screw over academics in favor of art classes and theater junior year. I'm excited.
In sucky news, I found out today that I'm not actually work-study eligible, even though I thought I was. Apparently just getting federal aid doesn't count; oh, no, it's a special kind of federal aid that makes you work-study eligible. Fucking bureaucracy! So I probably can't keep the Hugo House job, cause that's...guess what...a work study position. God damn the bloody effing system. It would really make my day if it were the other way around, and HH wasn't but the Writing Center was--"ahaha, whoops, I can't work for you, I'm not eligible, sorry! Watch me sign up for studio art..."
BUT NO.
ALSO, I just dicovered this morning that we don't get kitchens in the bloody dorms anymore! No! Because we have a huge amount of freshmen, and a bunch of people from New Orleans (okay, so I don't feel bad about helping them out, but even so), so all our kitchens have been converted into quads. No late night toast for me. Blargh.
ETA: This NPR bit: Study: Eating Cheese Can Alter Your Dreams is hilarious. Brilliant. Go listen.
