pipistrellafelix: (tea with tumnus?)
I took my computer in to Best Buy today, to get the poor thing fixed. Incidentally, if you can at all avoid it, don't drive anywhere near Northgate. It's a bloody madhouse up there--although the people driving are mostly quite polite. I got waved into lines a couple times, which made the whole thing much nicer to deal with. (Driving up there was just as crazy though; I got cut off twice by people turning without paying attention. Come on, people!)

I went up to one of the geek squad people and explained the problem (my backlight keeps going out), so he turned the computer on to see if it would go out for him. Which it didn't, of course; it hasn't actually been acting up since I got home, only during finals week. I still have the picture of Serenity on my desktop, though, so the minute that came up he goes, "oh, have you seen the movie?" and I said, "yes of course," and he said, "and the DVDs?" and I said, "hell yes, I've seen the DVDs," and so we got to be all Firefly-geeky while he registered my computer.
It's being sent out to somewhere in California; it'll probably take two weeks, because of repair traffic; and they might--probably not, but might--have to do a system restore and wipe everything. I backed up all my writing and photos, but not my (insane amount of) music. So if they do have to wipe it all, expect me to beg lots of music in about a fortnight.
It wasn't too bad, though; dealing with friendly geeks makes the day better. Ehehe.

I'm going to the Messiah tonight (hurrah!)--ditching the parents, due to a scheduling mix up and my own stubborness. Seattle Symphony, it should be fabulous. Which means I should probably find something else to wear besides jeans and a sweatshirt...
