Last night combined with the entirety of today was probably the best beginning to a quarter I have had yet. It's true.
The good, the bad & the slightly homely:
+ Mangoes, good food, staring contests with no object, wonderful people. Impossible to describe.
+ Waking up with plenty of time for a shower & breakfast this morning.
+ Lit class: it's going to kick my ass, in a good way--again. Dr. Iyer is, as Erin said, a little like a literature version of Dr. Kangas...we have to keep analytic journals, and do a ton of work, but it's all going to be amazing.
- Okay, so I didn't miss C-Street food.
+ Lunch with my friends, though, that was good.
+ Lunchtime excursions to Bartell's! New toothpaste! Also, Erin crocheted me a pair of mitten-gloves, so I now have two amazing pairs of fuzzy warm things for my hands (just as the weather turns, but hush, I still wear them).
+ Shakespeare class. Oh my god, I love this class. Already. It is full of people who want to study Shakespeare, my teacher is wonderful & hilarious (he brought a Shakespeare bobble-head to class), & we are reading some of my favorite plays--1 Henry IV, Macbeth, As You Like It, Richard III, Merchant of Venice,& A Winter's Tale. I am SO EXCITED. Shiny. [The best part may have been when he asked if anyone had read all the plays--because he was trying to do ones other than the Highschool Six--& I semi-raised my hand & said, "Well, if you count read or seen...yeah," & Jeremy glances sideways & says, "Freak."]
+ "We're all Shakespeare addicts...Shoot me up some Shakespeare. Let's do some lines!" -Dr. McDowell (I told you he was great)
+ Finding my other audition monologue--Portia, from M of V. Now I just have to memorize it, & be amazing. Yep. No trouble at all. In six days. Right. Oy.
+ Ultimate. On the green. An actual pick-up game, with over ten people. Barefoot. Spring has arrived.
- My wrist really hurts now, for no apparent reason.
- I was definetely falling asleep at rehersal today. I don't really like having to stand during the entire first scene when we keep going back & reworking it...& reworking it...&..aiee.
+ But I did get out early! Time for homework before bed. Mmm. Reading Shakespeare. Man, I am so stoked for that class.
