For Seattle dwellers--
May. 8th, 2008 09:38 amLast night Andrew & I went to go review Aurelia's Oratorio, which is a joint Seattle Rep/Children's Fest touring show. First off, we got "reserved" seats in general admission, which was a) awesome, & b)good advertisting, since the women sitting on either side of us asked why we got reserved seats, & we got to schmooze.
Also, many theater people were there to schmooze with afterwards--a bunch of people Andrew knew who I got introduced to (I love contacts), & Kelly & Jena & others.
But the best part? Oh, the show. The show. It was 70 minutes of pure, unadulterated joy, of absolute surreal magic, like living in the best, most vivid dream I've ever had. I loved absolutely everything in it, everything about it. I spent most of it with my hand over my mouth in sheer glee, making funny little gasping happy noises (I couldn't speak for several minutes afterward, I just laughed instead). It's circus, slight of hand, stage illusion; it's pure amazing fun and beauty and dream and nightmare all rolled into one.
You MUST go. Just go. You'll thank me later.
