I can really relate to a lot of what you said about being mature and intelligent but inexperienced when it comes to adult things. Although living with my dad right now has let me go back to being more like a kid in some ways, when I was living on my own in Washington there were all sorts of things I had to learn how to do very quickly, and I know there are a lot of things I have no clue about still. I only learned about the difference between credit cards and debit cards yesterday. Luckily I haven't had to deal with taxes yet. I sort of wish there had been a class in high school about necessary things like money, taxes, finding apartments and jobs, stuff like that.
About childhood- I used to think that there were essential things to do in childhood and that I had missed out on them by being a "good" kid as well. However, the more I read about different people's lives and the huge range of childhood experiences, the more I think there aren't any essential or necessary things that everyone should do in childhood. Besides, if there's something you really wanted to do as a kid, people don't suddenly stop developing as adults, so it's not too late to do it :)
