Cooooeee, what a trip...

I am, at the moment, exceedingly tired in that sort of deep pressure in the back of my head way, as a result of getting only four hours of sleep last night. I was going to get more, but I wanted to burn things. Ok. Um. Chronogically, then:
Emily and I set out Friday morning. It was utterly gorgeous yesterday, all hot and sunny and summery. We stopped to get gas before heading on the freeway, and had a rather frustratingly funny time trying to get the gas cap off the truck. It took about five minutes of pushing and twisting and poking with the key and a strange business-suited Indian man giving us advice before I realized I was turning the cap the wrong way. It really helps to read the instructions, you know. Go me. *grin*
And then we set off on the highway. It was a little trafficky ("trafficky"...is that like "colicky" but for highways?) getting out of the city, but it cleared out soon and the sun was out; and there really is nothing like going 70 on a nearly empty highway with the radio blasting rock music.
I had fun with Emily's camera...will post pictures when she sends them to me.
We got to Portland without incident, really, and met Allie and Liz, YAY! And it was hugs all round and happy scampering with things around the LC campus. We ate lunch in Allie's room, with a neighbor of theirs, Stephan--olives and brie cheese and crackers and carrots; I don't think I've eaten so well in a long time. Then we gathered things up and went to find people. Adnan was in the council chambers (seriously the coolest room; huge screen and lots of swank chairs) and we were unable to pry him away from the video game, so we went to a lounge and wrote and drew. Various people joined us and worked on characters for the Demon game Allie and Liz are running. Met Summer (who has fabulously wild curly hair and funny glasses that are different prescriptions in each eyes--yes, I stole them, what'd you expect?--and reminds me of someone, only I can't think who) and Jason (who is ponytailed and skinny and would remind me of Sim except he doesn't at all; his character for the Roman Demons game is a prostitute demon, brilliance). And David, who is tall and pointy-toothed and trench-coated. I want to be his werewolf buddy, haha (also a pyro, but that comes later). His character for Adnan's game was the Glasswalker Alpha of LA; I am severely tempted to get Addy to email him for diplomatic conversation in World of Cheesecake (and I realize this makes no sense to anybody, but I don't care...hah. :D).
We made dinner which was fabulous...I missed making food with my sisters so much. Pasta and tuna and feta cheese. Hee. Reminded me of summers and guerrilla dinners, a little bit; although also very different. College is strange.
There was Vampire game after that, Adnan's LA game, which was awfully fun, as this was the night that all hell broke loose and the BSDs came out. Haha. And then we watched Neverwhere (so gorgeous!).
Emily was smart and went to sleep, hah...on the other hand, I didn't have to drive, and I wasn't tired. Allie and Liz and David and Jason and I sat around in the lounge for a while, and then David and I went outside in the rain and tried to burn things. His stake had broken but that didn't burn so well; and after a while Jason came out and then we all went to Forest lounge and found the fireplace there and burned things and talked about RPGs and other weird (in the way that my honors cult is not, unfortunately) things until five in the morning. Honest. It was brilliant.
Also briliant was David asking me with perfect seriousness whether I was from Ireland. I said, "er, no, unfortunately," and he said, "oh. You have the accent," and my inner accent-whore was indubitably pleased. (I had gone about with a somewhat Scottish-Irish medley of accent that day; but still, I hadn't thought it was that good.)
I actually did sleep, some (three and a half hours, maybe? Four?). Emily woke me up in the morning and we said goodbye to Allie and Liz (pah. ...but it's only four weeks till they're back). I got my Solly-Birthday prezzies, yay...I have a Flying Carvinorous Thing of Worship! Hee!
And then Emily and I drove back to Seattle. Well, Emily drove. And the weather was horrific. Visibility was terrible...but we survived, hurrah! ...only Em left her coat in Portland. I left my cake container, but that isn't nearly as important.
I wanted to make this post more interesting. It was a lot more fun that I think that sounds like. But I'm tired, so my coherency level is rather...low. And I smell like woodsmoke, not that that has anything to do with my words, really. I am happy and so so so glad we made the trip and it was so fabulous to see Liz and Allie and to meet their friends, but I'm afraid that's not coming across at the moment...
I think I will run away now. And take a shower. And then work on my audition pieces, for heaven's sake. Oy. *is doomed*
I was tired, obviously:
"Wait, wait, Dad--get the, the cord...from the computer...the LSD cord. No. The LS...the...camera thingy." -Me (Yes. An LSD cord. You plug it in the computer and the hard drive goes hallucinogenic. Ehehe.)
