Yesterday I ate lunch with Rose at Araya's on the Ave (which is really good, I highly reccomend their buffet noodles and the spring rolls) and then went down to meet Rachel at City Hall. Liz and Allie showed up and we sat listening to the City Council talk about the monorail. And yes it was much more interesting than that sounds! (Stop laughing at me. I know I'm a nerd.) There were public comments and then the Council argued all politely about one paragraph in an amendment and then they voted on things. Lordy, I wouldn't want that job at all.
And then we went to the library and sat around and read...(Rachel balanced out the Council by reading the entirety of Cosmo Girl :))...I found a book about Hamlet from Ophelia's point of view, which was fun. I read the whole thing. I'm really liking this sit-down-and-read-a-whole-book style of summer reading. Makes me feel so useless and accomplished at the same time. :)
And then Liz and Allie and I wandered up to Value Village (all three of us going clothes shopping voluntarily was apparerntly the fourth sign of the apocalypse. I think it's vetoed by the fact that it was VV and Allie didn't buy a dress, but...). And ate dinner at Taco del Mar, and caught the 11 going downtown so we could film by the Harbor Steps and Pioneer Square and so forth.
It was about the time when the bus turned onto a freeway on-ramp that I realized something was not quite right. We did not realize that the 11 turns into the 20, and does in fact not go as far downtown as we thought, but instead goes to West Seattle. Hmm.
So there was an impromptu visit to West Seattle consisting of getting off a bus, walking across the street and getting on the bus going the other way, which happened to come just a few second later. It was pointless and silly, but kind of fun.
We got some nice shots at the Harbor Steps, since it was dark by then, and then we went to the little deli on the steps (West Edge, I think it's called) and charged the camera battery. I made Liz hydrate herself and found out that neither of them had watched Back to the Future (have got to fix that), and stopped myself from staring too much at the lovely lovely cashier boy with the beautiful accent. Mmmm. (Stop it!)
Then down to the waterfront, where we danced around and Liz talked to a statue and Allie nearly fell into a fountain, and then we walked to Pioneer Square, stopping so Liz could get a pint of Allie's blood (it was fake, kids, it's called acting), and then filmed some more. And got the 26 home and dad picked Liz and me up at Latona at about 12:40...and I was tired. But also very lucky that I have a dad who'll do that...I didn't really want to walk home from Cameo dance. Eh.
This morning I went to a rolfing session my mother sent me to...of which my only description was "weird." She poked me and I walked around and she poked me some more and I got structurally partially fixed. Although we did have good theater conversations. Heh.
And then I came home and read again (Franz de Waal!) and then finally wrote the thank-you's for the dessert performance of CWS and put them in the mail. Yay! I feel so accomplished. :)
Maybe I'll got hem my pants and be even more accomplished...before rehearsal and painting the wall. Yay!
