Saturday marked the day I first met an online friend in person--
raistmimi (Miriam). I met her downtown & showed her all around Pike Place & the waterfront. We poked at the stalls & she bought us rings (thanks dear!), & herself a really nifty hat. Pike Place was crowded...I forget what a touristy place it gets in the summer. I got so used to going in the winter, or really late at night to film, that I didn't remember how sunny & loud & crazy it can be.
Saturday night we made bagels, we being my dad & I. (Btw: Aaron is an idiot. Although my dad should still take his cell phone with him.) They turned out tasty, if a bit misshapen & crunchy. I want to bake more this summer...the heat has sort of turned me off it, but the smell of yeast & the feel of kneading dough really is lovely.
Sunday was lovely...Anneka, Mum & I went to see Expiration Date, which was a really fun film--it kept almost being predictable & then flipping itself around, & it was fairly ridiculous, but also sweet & well-made. It's playing at the Egyptian...go see it. & then Anneka & I wandered around Broadway, & then went back to her house. We got Thai delivery (I feel so chic, aha...) & we rented Tristan + Isolde (because apparently one movie a day isn't enough). Don't bother seeing that one...it's horrifically lame, the plot is impossible to follow, & it's badly paced. Tristan isn't even the prettiest one in the movie, so Naka & got to yell at the screen for more Melot, please! (But he--Melot--is going to be in Stardust. Along with the cute one from Casanova (yet another bad movie with pretty people). Ye gods, that movie is going to be full of beautiful people. & written by Neil Gaiman. Could it get any better?) I did have fun muttering about the historical inaccuracies, but doing that for Troy was better, because Troy was more entertaining overall. Plus there was Odysseus. There was no Odysseus in Tristan + Isolde, though considering the fact that it made no sense at all, I wouldn't have been all that suprised if he'd shown up.
& now I am at school, having just finished another test early. & I have to go argue with the financial office. Bleh.
