(yes, my new icon is jack sparrow...)
Nov. 26th, 2006 01:30 pmIt's a really curious feeling standing next to the window in my apartment--I've got the cold seeping in through the edges of the glass, but at the same time a waft of warm air sweeping upwards from the heater. My whole apartment has succumbed to this, actually; parts of it are wonderfully warm & then when I stand up to go somewhere else, I'm hit with a blast of cold. I wish the place would just make up its mind.
The last book we're reading for history is the most interesting (go figure). Aside from a little more historical detail (necessary for the class, though), it's the kind of book I might have picked up to read in a non-academic setting. Which is nice. I'm feeling all right about my paper, too--for no reason at all, because I've not done any work on it since the last time I was afraid of it--and my final paper...well, I don't know, but somehow I think I'll manage. I usually do. I'm going to talk to Dr. E about my dilemma (problem...selfish idiocy...) about school & hopefully she'll help. She almost always does.
And soon I'll be getting my foamcore, which means when I get sick of history I can take a break by cutting up things & gluing them together. I really am loving the design class...it's like being back in kindergarten, except you get to play with sharper tools & make more sophisticated projects. At its heart though it's still cutting & pasting & craftwork, which I really do love. Sometimes I think I should quit school & apprentice myself to a blacksmith or a weaver or something.
Also, Anna, Claire & Anneka are wonderful & amazing, & shopping & tea yesterday was just what I wanted.
ETA: Snow? Snow! It's snowing! ...does it do this, in November, in Seattle? I hope it keeps going...not that I think school will be canceled at all, but I'll get much less wet walking in snow tomorrow than rain.
