Dear two professors I have asked for a reccomendation:
I have given you the materials at least two weeks ahead of time, after you have both confirmed that you would be thrilled to write letters of rec for me for a scholarship.
I have emailed you about four days before the due date, to remind you of the due date (today) and time (five pm), and to ask if I needed to resend you any of the numbers or URLs necessary to submit the letters.
Now it is 45 minutes past the due date. One of you has, at least, emailed me to apologize that you have missed the time (not realizing it was five pm & not midnight as they usually are), and will do everything you can to try to get the scholarship people to accept it. That's something, I guess.
The other one of you hasn't said a thing, hasn't submitted the letter, and it only makes it worse that you are one of my favorite teachers. Could you have told me it wasn't possible a little earlier? (I am not entirely sure how I should approach this--if there's any chance that they'll accept a late letter (which of course they won't, but whatever), I want to remind you so you could try. But what do I say? Excuse me, why did you mess up, can you fix it? Geez.)
Now there is no chance of me even being considered for this scholarship. & this was one I actually had to put some effort into, too. Might have paid for a quarter of college next year.
Thanks a lot.
P.S. Also, I have just dicovered that my hangnail is bleeding all over the place. What the fuck is up with this week? I hate it.
ETA: So Prof #1 has managed to get their letter in. Have yet to hear back from the other one. *sigh* Please, please, please.
ETA2: As of this morning, both letters are in. Phew. I'm not angry anymore. Now we just have to see if these people want to give me any money.
