pipistrellafelix: (happy)
Folklife! I managed to go three days, each with a different feel. I met up with lots of people; heard all kinds of music, celtic foremost (Jamie Laval & Ashley Broder!); danced a little salsa & a little bellydance & a little zoned-out reggae; saw too many adorable dogs (I want one!) & a ridiculously cute kitten (I want one!) & several cute children (...don't really want one, thanks); browsed shops upon shops; & ate, of course, a lot of food. Expect a large picture post soon (just for you, Leeann!)
I am not at all happy with the shooting that happened on Saturday. I was inside the Center house listening to ghost stories so I only heard about it later...but it was horribly unsettling. I always had an image of Folklife as the peaceful, mellow place where none of that stupid stuff goes down. I guess up until now it was. I sort of worry what changes will happen for next year on account of this. Errrgh.

In other news I also made a "white" model of my set. I say "white" because it isn't made out of white matboard, it's made of plastic straws & toothpicks and leftover foamcore and glue and a shit ton of tape. It's quite possibly the ugliest thing I have ever made in my life, & I don't care--I find it sort of amusing, & since it's a prelim model just for space volume considerations, it doesn't have to look pretty. It's still funny though.

Also, I am going to be in Open Circle's Alice in Wonderland in the park! I am super excited about this, a) because it's a park show & b) because it's with Open Circle. Apparently it is my goal now to do all of their shows, because I also want to do their HP Lovecraft Halloween show in the fall. Hey, I'm okay with that. I like them all.

& now I have to go print things & research things & do homework.
