pipistrellafelix: (come into my lab)
So I finished writing this giant seance scene I have had in my head for weeks (which of course didn't turn out at all like it was in my head because that's how this works), because I was determined to finish at least this scene before going to bed, and then I went to update my word count on the website & shazam, 51,134 and to the winner's page!

I am THRILLED.

Also, however, totally not done with the actual story of my novel (there's at least four more big scenes and several small ones, although praise be I do know how it ends and more or less how it gets there, which is more than I can say for most things I have begun to write, ever).

Oh gosh I am so excited though! Tomorrow's goal: actually finishing the novel. I wonder how many more thousands of words that is? Heee!

Postscript: have written a good deal of the last several thousand words while house sitting. Let me warn all future novelists that writing a ghost story, late at night, while you are alone in the house, does not lend itself to getting to sleep later. Yes. Mellow St. Bernard dogs, while lovely, tend to sleep outside and not protect you from imaginary ghosts.

...time for bed...? :)
